Salt Painting
Focus: Art
Expected set up time: 5-10 mins
You’ll need
- Cardboard Stock is best (whatever you use will need to be able to soak up some fluid)
- White Glue is best
- Food colouring
- Water
- Eye Dropper(s) [best if the eye dropper has a small opening]
- Salt
- Containers for coloured water
How to
1. Make up some coloured water containers using the food colouring
2. Have your little person “draw” a design using the glue on the card stock
3. Sprinkle a good amount of salt onto the glue “drawing”
4. Shake of the excess salt
5. Use the eye dropper to drop colours onto the salt trails and watch the colours run/creep
6. ENJOY
Think about this
This activity is really easy to execute. It is a really good activity for practicing fine motor skills while using the eye dropper, the salt shaker and the glue and for experimenting with colours. There’s probably even a little bit of science in there if you’re little one is interested in why the colour travels along the salt line.
