Buckets and Balls
Focus: Developing Motor Skills
Expected set up time: 5 mins
You’ll need
- As many balls as you have around the house
- As many buckets, containers etc that you want
How to
We got a bunch of buckets, containers, a pasta pot, even the washing basket onto which we taped the off-cut of a piece of cardboard we used to make a wheel for another project. We gathered all the balls we had around the house and we made up a handful of games. You could
- give each bucket/container a score and see who gets the highest score
- have a race to see who gets the most balls in the buckets/containers
- if you coordinate containers with ball colours you could use it as a sorting game
- make a line and see how far you can throw
Think about this
Use a variety of containers and sizes to challenge your little athletes ability. You can adjust this activity for the age of your child. Even littlies that have just started to walk would enjoy placing the balls in the buckets/containers. Remember to take that moment!
