FLASHBACK TO THE OLD SCHOOL POLKADOTS
We though we could go through the archives and pull out some flashback moments for you! Its always funny for us to look at, we thought you may enjoy it too.
Check out The Polkadots in their original costumes almost 3 years ago prior to their initial launch in July 2009. The Polkadots made front cover of The New Zealand Herald’s Canvas Magazine. The distinguishing colours and defined character roles that each Polkadots now has had not developed at this early time. The article said, quote: “The Polkadots, a group of North Shore mothers and mothers-to-be, are relative newcomers to the industry and they’re under no illusions of overnight success.”
Interestingly, one of the main features of the article was a checklist identifying the abilities and talents of The Polkadots that would likely help them to succeed. Referring to each Polkadot, the article went something like this.
Polkadot Carly: a preschool teacher. Education: tick.
Polkadot Dez: a graphic designer. Branding: tick. Dancer, Choreographer: tick.
Polkadot Dionne: a singer/songwriter. Music: tick
Polkadot Sarah and Dionne. Beauty Therapists: Impeccable grooming: tick.
Grandma Polkadot. Author. Children’s literature: tick.
Half a dozen children between them. Test audience: tick.
Three short years on from this The Polkadots have performed hundreds of concerts to tens of thousands of children and parents throughout the country and are arguably New Zealand’s premier children’s entertainers. The big question is, what do the next three years hold? Watch this space.
