Mum Blog Spotlight (Enjoying the Small Things)
Our Mum Blog Spotlight this week is on Kelle Hampton. A mum (or mom, since she’s from the States) who started the blog when her first little girl was born as a way to satisfy her creative passion for writing and photography. When her second child was born, Kelle had to face the news that little Nella had Down Syndrome. Since then, her blog has become her way of expressing her love and gratitude for her daughters, especially focusing on ‘the small things’ that she experiences with them, a sisterly moment, a sweet kiss.
Kelle very candidly shares her journey of acceptance and understanding of being a mother of a child with special needs. When asked whether she purposefully talks about Down Syndrom a lot in her blog her reply is, “Yes in that I believe my role in this community is to show the world that, by not focusing on Down syndrome, it allows people outside of this journey to see special needs in a different way. That we are all so much more alike than different. That Life can take center stage to whatever affliction we are facing in life, regardless of its severity” Kelle also includes activities for families with children who have special needs.
Her beautiful photography helps you really appreciate the simple but special moments Kelle has shared. Her photography will also get you thinking about what photos you want to capture with your children, and how its not only the big moment that are worth capturing but the simple and small things too.
Kelle has called her blog, ’Enjoying the Small Things‘. Which we feel sums up very well the essence of all that she shares with her readers.
