I came across a blog a few weeks ago which I really love. It’s called Ambrosia. The blogger’s name is Jenn. She is a Mum of two young boys and a 3 month old baby girl. She loves crafts, fashion and does graphic design so she gets to make awesome things for her kids – so I can kind of relate to her! Her photos and creations are just beautiful.

A friend of hers shared a tip from Dr. Sear’s The Discipline Book that uses a ticket reward system for young children, as an alternative to a star chart. Her method differed a little but the main objective is for her son to gain 3 ‘Happy Tickets’ by dinner time. 3 tickets means a treat!

Thought I would try this with Brookie today just for fun. I printed the free download in black and white and cut them up.

Brooklyn was rewarded a ticket for the following:

Not complaining when having to brush her teeth . . .

playing nicely with her play dough . . .

and she almost didn’t make it to 3 tickets today as we had a bit of a melt down at the mall. Shopping with a a howling 6 month old and a 3 year old swinging a blanket around surrounded by breakables is NOT FUN – but she redeemed herself by eating all of food at dinner time without complaining. (A rarity!)

In the end she earned her treat, a yummy Paddle Pop ice-cream.

What are some of your reward systems that really work?
